The questions buyers and engineers ask most, answered directly.
No. Glass-fibre composite does not corrode. Salt air, sulphate soils, chlorine and sewage have no effect on it, so there is no rust, no seizing in the frame and no repainting schedule.
Yes, up to D400 (400 kN) as standard, which covers carriageways, hard shoulders and parking areas. E600 and F900 are available on request for docks and airport pavements. Above E600, ductile iron is usually the better choice.
Because they have no resale value. Scrap dealers take cast iron for its metal value; there is no market for used composite, so theft for resale — the single largest cause of cover loss — stops. The non-through lifting hole and clamshell frame also resist levering.
A 600 mm composite cover weighs about 18 kg against roughly 70 kg for the cast iron equivalent — about a quarter of the weight. Installation, inspection and lifting become a one-person job with a T-key, with no crane or lifting gear.
Composite is rarely replaced for corrosion; in practice it is replaced when the road itself is rebuilt. It needs no repainting and does not seize in its frame, which are the two failure modes that shorten iron cover life in coastal cities.
Yes. The material is rated for service from about -50 °C to +150 °C and is formulated with UV resistance for desert conditions, where surface temperatures routinely exceed 50 °C.
No — they are signal transparent. Radio, 5G and IoT transmissions pass through, so smart-city sensors, utility meters and monitoring nodes can sit under the cover and still communicate.
Match the class to the heaviest vehicle that can reach the chamber. A15 for pedestrian areas, B125 for footways and car parks, C250 for kerbside and gully lines, D400 for carriageways. If a truck can reach it, specify D400.
Yes. Pattern, colour and logo are moulded into the tool rather than painted on, so they survive traffic, sun and abrasion. Relief depth up to 3 mm; minimum 50 pieces per pattern and 300 per colour.
25–35 days ex-works for standard sizes; new tooling adds 25–35 days. Terms are FOB Qingdao, CIF, CFR or DAP by arrangement, with direct sailings to Jebel Ali, Dammam, Hamad and Sohar. Qingdao to Jebel Ali is about 22 days.
